An American in Paris
MERCI BEAUCOUP to my friends at CDG Aéroport Lost & Found!
My flight was late landing at CDG and I was in a rush to make my connecting flight. I was surprised to learn that I would have to pass through another security screening to get to my next gate. It was crowded and chaotic and many people were pushing through the line trying to make their flights. By the time I made it to the front, I was sure I would miss my plane. I have a titanium knee which kept setting off the alarms. I had passed through three different machines several times, had to remove my shoes and jewelry, and got “wanded” twice. By the time I was cleared to proceed, my long necklace broke and scattered beads all over the floor! I ran to the gate and was fortunate that the flight was delayed, presumably waiting for other missing passengers in the same situation. Relieved, I settled into my seat and we took off shortly. That’s when I noticed the bracelet and four rings I had left in the bowl at Security were still in the bowl! I was so sad and it made a stressful situation even worse. They were not super expensive pieces but they meant a lot to me. I was still upset days after arriving home. I eventually looked online and found the CDG Lost & Found website. It provided online forms in multiple languages. I filled out one for each item, including descriptions and photos of similar items. Within just a day or two, I got an email stating that they had found a match for my belongings. They provided a photo and instructions for getting them shipped back to me. Just a few days after that, my bracelet and rings have been safely returned and I am so grateful! The package even included two Eiffel Tower souvenir keychains! I love these people! Vive la France!
